Losing a loved one in combat is really tough. A 9-year-old boy lost his dad in battle when he was just 15 months old. Now his uncle has a surprise for him.
Jeff Kettle was a Green Beret. It was one dreadful day in Afghanistan, 8 years ago, that the brave soldier and his comrades were killed by a buried IED. Unfortunately his son, Logan, doesn’t remember much about his father.
“It’s been really tough,” says Logan in the video below. “I don’t know what its like to have a dad. Everyone else in my class has a dad, and their dads are so great. I bet mine was greater, but I couldn’t have spent time with him.”
Logan always wondered what had happened to his dad’s jacket. His uncle, Clay Kettle recently found out that the jacket has not been found. It’s something Logan has always wanted.
Clay took it upon himself to look for his brother’s jacket, but unfortunately he had no luck. That’s when he decided to make a replica of the jacket, wanting it to look as close as possible to the one worn by Jeff himself.
“When I was in school, I always wore my dad’s air force jacket.” recalls Clay. “It was very important to me.”
It took him months but he was finally able to put the jacket together. It’s an emotional moment when he presents the jacket to Logan.
