We all have our struggles in life. Sometimes there are moments harder than others. Overcoming those moments can be hard.

Since school started this year, mother, Josette Duran, has been packing two lunches for her son everyday. At first this seemed strange to the mother. She didn’t know why her son was asking for two lunches.

One day the Duran decided to ask her son why he wanted two lunches everyday. Her son told her that he was giving the extra lunch to another boy in his school. “He said, ‘No mom, it’s for this little boy at school and he sits by himself and all he eats is a fruit cup,” Duran Said.

The unnamed little boy’s mother had recently lost her job and she was unable to afford school lunches. This was something Duran was very familiar with.

“This hits home to me because a few years ago, me and my son were homeless,” Duran said. “I was living in my car, I was washing him in bathrooms, and we didn’t have any food.”

The mother of the little boy found out about the kind act, and wanted to pay Duran back for all the lunches she prepared for her son. “She said, ‘Um, I know this isn’t much, but I just got a job and I know you’ve been feeding my son’.” said Duran. But she couldn’t take the single mother’s money.

Noticing how grateful the single mother was, Duran decided to raise a little money. She ended up raising $400, each penny going towards paying off the past due accounts of students in a similar situation.
