The crowd attending an Ohio hockey arena on Saturday witnessed art and patriotism collide just before the East Coast Hockey League game between the Toledo Walleye and the Brampton Beast.
Artist Joe Everson was called to perform the national anthem. But instead of a microphone, he stepped up to an easel. The audience was silent as he sang and painted.
