Homecoming reunions are the best. The emotion between a soldier and his family shared at the moment they see each other again for the first time in a long time is indescribable.

Back in 2007, Oprah Winfrey wanted to do something special for 31 Marines from the 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Alpha Company. She invited the soldiers to be on her show. They thought they were there to be interviewed, but Oprah had a surprise they will always remember.

The soldiers had just finished a 7-month tour and had yet seen their family. That’s when Oprah revealed her surprise. She got the families of the soldiers to come to the show as well. The results are heartwarming.
