God always has a plan for everyone. And although a lot of bad things can happen in your life, the faith you have through those hard times will guide you to the light at the end of the tunnel.

Back in 2012, Melissa Dohme went through the toughest time in her life when she was stabbed by her boyfriend 32 times. Robert Lee Burton Jr. pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was sentenced to life in prison without the chance for parole.

After going multiple surgeries, Melissa started to recover from her physical wounds. While in recovery she had a chance encounter with her hero, Cameron Hill, who was one of the first Firefighter-paramedics to respond to her emergency situation. It didn’t take long for them to connect, they instantly hit it off.

They soon fell in love and have been inseparable ever since. Melissa also became an advocate against domestic violence. She is a voice for Break the Silence, and thought she was going to get to throw the first pitch at a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game because of her work. Little did she know that Cameron had a big surprise for her.

Cameron had organized the entire thing so that he could ask her to marry him. Right before the first throw he showed up and surprised her with the question. In front of the audience, and everyone watching, she said yes!

It’s incredible how through such a horrible time in her life she was able to find the man of her dreams.
