After watching the video below, you’d think that a bear named Tuffy might just be the happiest bear around – his happy demeanor has gained a him a lot of popularity. However, the reason behind his joy is why so many started sharing his story in the first place.

Tuffy had been rescued from a bile farm where he had spent many years trapped in a cage too far too small for his size. There, he was tortured through a process that kills many other bears just like him. Until his rescue by Animals Asia’s Vietnam, Tuffy’s days seemed numbered.

Tuffy was found with a damaged gall bladder, cracked paws and fractured bones. Despite needing a lot of help, vet teams refused to give up on him. After some time to recover, Tuffy was ready to face grass and water for the first time.

How Tuffy reacts to the feeling of grass and water can’t help but make you smile – he knows he’s free at last:

“Coming from years of little or no water, for Tuffy this must feel like a true oasis after being parched and in pain for so long,” said Louise Ellis, an Animals Asia Manager.

After what Tuffy has been through, it’s so nice to see him so happy.
