This Mother Was Pronounced Dead, But a Nurse Noticed a Spark In Her Eyes

When Nissa Smith was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at home, doctors thought she would never recover. However, something miraculous was about to happen.

It started as a regular day in 2001. The Utah mother was nursing her 1-month old baby when she fell victim to ‘locked-in syndrome’, a nightmarish condition in which a patient is aware but cannot move or communicate verbally due to complete paralysis.

At the hospital, doctors scanned her brain and did not noticed any activity and recommended allowing her to die. But when a nurse was about to remove the IV from Nissa’s lifeless body, she saw a spark in her eyes that told her Nissa was still in there. The nurse looked into her eyes and said: “If you can hear me, close your eyes twice.” Her instinctive move paid off. Nissa closed her eyes twice, and what follows is nothing short than a miracle.

Nissa’s condition began to improve. After years of therapy, she was able to regain a lot of the ability she had lost.

Thanks to this intuitive nurse, Nissa is back at home with her three daughters. While she is still recovering, her case continues to baffle her doctors today.
