Police Rescue Dogs From Sweltering Hot Car, Discover Car's Temperature Was 167 Degrees

Despite the constant reminders of leaving dogs in hot cars can result in death, some people just can’t get it. Thankfully, concerned citizens and law enforcement are there to help save these suffering animals. Roswell Police Department soon released body-cam footage once the story broke out:

Roswell PD in New Mexico responded to a call from someone who notices a small dog suffering in a hot vehicle. The dog looked in desperate need of help. Luckily, an officer was nearby to respond in just under 20 seconds.

After the officer approached the vehicle, he decided to measure the temperature in the car – the device measured 167 Fº. It was later discovered that the dogs had been in the car for more than one hour.

The two dogs in the vehicle became aggressive due to the heat and simple being scared. Roswell Georgia firefighters also responded to provide medical treatment to the two dogs – they had suffered from a heat stroke. The dogs were cooled off and given plenty of water to drink.

They were soon taken to an emergency animal hospital due to how long they had been in the car. Thankfully, the two were treated and discharged in good health.

The owner of the vehicle soon arrived after being called from the movie theater – they were charged with two counts of Animal Cruelty. The dogs are no longer in owner’s possession.

After posting the video on Facebook, Roswell PD wrote a message for everyone to see:

“Help us spread the word about the dangers of leaving pets inside of a hot vehicle. If you see an animal trapped inside of a hot car, call 9-1-1, so that a tragedy can be avoided. #PetSafety #DogInHotCar #DontLeaveDogsInCars”

This should never happen. Share this video so that people realize that this could easily kill any animal. It’s simply not fair to humanity’s best friend.
