A North Texas teacher’s letter to parents about her new homework policy has taken the internet by storm.
Before school started yesterday, Brandy Young, a second-grade teacher at Godley Elementary School in Johnson County.
sent a letter home to parents of her students, basically telling them their children will not have homework this year.
In the letter, Young explained her extensive research has been “unable to prove that homework improves student performance.” So, instead, she is asking parents to spend time with their children, eat dinner as a family, read, play outside and go to bed early – things that truly help with their child’s school success.
