Muslim Dance Group Smash Stereotypes Through Dance And Education

Some people seem to have a misconception about Muslim women. A female Muslim dance group is teaching the world about misleading stereotypes of Muslims through dance.

Amirah Sackett started the female Muslim dance group, We’re Muslim Don’t Panic, back in 2011. She felt that Muslim women needed to stand up for their identity to show who they really are.

Before her show, she spreads a few words to teach the audience about what being a Muslim woman means. Then they shock the world with their movements and a dance that flows so smoothly. They perform a dance style called “popping,” which is gender neutral and a man or a woman can do the same moves.

After the show the woman have a Q&A with the audience. This helps get the audience involved and further inform them.
